Classroom Day 4

My day 4 in the classroom was actually Thursday but I've been kinda busy watching the Olympics, trying to make curtains and crate seats, tutoring, and going to yoga. I'm trying to soak up the last little bit of my summer but still get classroom stuff done too.

Let me update you on what I got done in my classroom.

My word wall is finished! I put it under the board and I think it will be a great area for the kids to see the words and be able to grab the words off the wall for spelling if they need to. My word wall is velcro so we can easily add words and take them away.

I also put up my beanie baby strategies wall. I use this mostly during guided reading to help my kids remember strategies so I put it up near where my kidney table will be.

Then I also put up my goodbye rhymes and daily specials schedule on my door.

It doesn't seem like I got that much done through the pictures but I did a lot of organizing done. I can't wait to show you all the finished product which probably won't be done until meet the teacher.

I have been looking everywhere for classroom jobs and I just couldn't find any that I wanted so I made some! My old classroom jobs were handmade-I actually colored them in my first year of teaching so I thought it was time to update these. You can click here to get them.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  1. I really like your word wall especially since your students can come and grab the words they need.

  2. Is the material for your word wall one huge piece of Velcro or something else Velcro will stick to?

    1. I just put up regular black bulletin board paper and then have strips of black velcro under each letter for the words. Once I get some words up there I'll take another picture and show you how it looks!

    2. Ooh that's even better and probably cheaper! I may steal this idea even though I teach upper elementary!

    1. Thanks Kelly! I can't remember where I got them because it was a long time ago but I'm sure if you just looked up beanie baby strategies you could find them or some similar!

  4. Your room is really coming together!! I'm curious as to what is that blue magnetic book holder you have on your whiteboard. Is that something you made or purchased?? I need something like that. Thanks!

    1. Thanks Katie! This is my 3rd year using it that way and I don't think I could do it any other way anymore!

  6. I just put my word wall up today!! It's right underneath my whiteboard too. I love the idea of velcro. Do you replace the bulletin board paper every year?

    1. Yes, I do replace the paper every year because unfortunately I have moved rooms every single year! Even if I do stay in the same room next year, I have to take down anything that isn't on a bulletin board so this will have to be taken down as well. Such a bummer because this is so much extra work and I know the custodians don't clean our walls or paint, which is the purpose of taking down anything that isn't permanent.
